The true power of believing
Believe it and live it!
Our belief has an immense impact on what happens. If you wake up and tell yourself you’re going to have a miserable day, then you will.
If you tell yourself that you are a loser and nothing good ever happens then you will go through life missing out on opportunities, and potentially become the loser you prophesised.
Did you know you can however also do the opposite?
Some beliefs can set you free, while others will limit you and hold you back. By identifying and challenging what is stopping you from being open to possibilities you can literally turn your life around.
It was always considered impossible that any human being could run a mile in under four minutes. Roger Bannister questioned this belief and then with planning, determination and a clear goal in mind, he ran a mile in under four minutes because he firmly believed that it was possible.
Everyone else around him, including colleagues and journalists advised him that it could not be done, but Roger thought about it, practiced it and with the help of two friends who paced him throughout the challenge, he achieved it! Roger realised the human body was capable of reaching this goal and therefore had total faith in himself and the outcome of his experiment.
The incredible thing was that as soon as he proved that it was possible to run a mile in under four minutes, many others managed to do the same thing, several in the same year! It is quite alarming to think that the many people who followed Roger’s example had always been able to achieve this, but prior to Roger’s example they chose to believe everyone else’s opinions and not in themselves! Belief in a positive outcome can make that outcome a reality.
A stretch of the imagination…
Stand up and look directly ahead. Stretch out your right arm straight in front of you at shoulder height.
Keeping your feet firmly on the ground and not moving your pelvis at all, turn to your right in a circle and move your arm as far around to the back of your body as you can, keeping it level.
Notice the point that you reach and to what object or part of the room your fingers are pointing.
Now close your eyes and with your arm outstretched, imagine that you are repeating the above, but this time you DO NOT move your arm. You just imagine that you are. See yourself moving much further than before and well past the point you previously reached and see yourself doing this with ease.
Repeat twice more, but each time imagine you are easily almost managing to turn 360 degrees.
Now open your eyes and repeat point 2 again. You will be able to reach much further around than the first time you tried! this is the power of belief and seeing in your mind first.
